RCT Stevedoring and D. Buermans achieve record-breaking operation in Willebroek

RCT Stevedoring and Kraanbedrijf D. Buermans have jointly achieved a significant logistics milestone in Willebroek. The terminal handled the largest seagoing vessel since RCT Stevedoring began its operations. Arriving from the Mediterranean region, the vessel measured 152.5 metres in length and 22.5 metres in width, carrying more than 7,400 tonnes of steel products.

Thanks to specialised infrastructure, high-performance equipment and the expertise of both teams, the entire cargo was handled safely and efficiently.

Over 7,400 tonnes of steel unloaded in 24 hours

RCT Stevedoring managed the entire logistics process, from unloading the vessel and temporarily storing the cargo at the terminal to its onward distribution to the end customer.

The Mantsinen 300 and Multidocker cranes were deployed for the cargo handling operations. Working closely with the experienced crane operators of Kraanbedrijf D. Buermans, the teams successfully unloaded the entire cargo in just 24 operational hours. Safety, precision and efficient coordination between all teams involved were key to the success of this operation.

This operation confirms our ability to manage complex logistics challenges safely, efficiently and in accordance with the highest quality standards. Thanks to our strategic location, specialised infrastructure and experienced employees, we are exceptionally well equipped to handle oversized cargo and large-scale logistics projects.

Specialised infrastructure for heavy cargo

This record-breaking operation is the result of targeted investments in capacity, equipment and infrastructure. In addition to the Mantsinen 300 crane, the terminal currently offers 32,000 m² of covered storage space and 70,000 m² of outdoor storage capacity.

The most recent expansion includes two new warehouses, providing an additional 7,200 m² of covered storage capacity. These facilities feature heavy-duty concrete floors, concrete side walls and overhead cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 40 tonnes. This makes the terminal particularly well suited for handling and storing steel products, heavy industrial goods and other complex cargo.

Complementary expertise within Multi Logistics Group

The successful operation demonstrates how specialised infrastructure, high-performance equipment and operational expertise reinforce each other within Multi Logistics Group. From its terminal in Willebroek, RCT Stevedoring provides terminal infrastructure, storage capacity and logistics services, while Kraanbedrijf D. Buermans contributes specialised expertise and crane capacity for handling heavy cargo.

This combination enables complex logistics projects to be managed efficiently, from cargo arrival through to onward distribution. The operation also marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with the customer and reinforces the confidence international clients place in the combined expertise of the companies within Multi Logistics Group.
